Le Montpellier-Volley a remporté ce mardi le match aller des 8ème de finale de la Coupe d’Europe CEV sur le score de 3 sets à 1 : 25-10 ; 25-16 ; 26-28 ; 25-19.
Match retour le mercredi 31 janvier à 20h à Castelnau-le-Lez.

Le Montpellier-Volley a commencé très fort le match. Grâce au puissant service et à l’œil de lynx de Gustavo DELGADO en attaque, les Français ont surclassé les Biélorusses dans le 1^er set conclu 25 à 10.

L’entraîneur du Shakthior SOLIGORSK Viktar BEKSHA a réalisé ensuite quelques changements majeurs dans son équipe. Sans succès. En effet, le Montpellier-Volley remportait le second set 25 à 16 pour mener 2 sets à 0.

En revanche, dans le 3^ème set, le Shakthior SOLIGORSK a finalement réussi à changer de rythme. Grâce notamment à Uladzimir Zhyhmont et Andrei RADZIUK, qui ont entretenu les espoirs biélorusses en remportant ce set 28 à 26 et revenir ainsi à 2 sets à 1.

Mais le Montpellier-Volley est revenu plus fort dans le 4^ème set, en particulier grâce à Jean PATRY pour finalement conclure ce set 25 à 19 et remporter le match 3 sets à 1.

Le coach montpelliérain Olivier LECAT était très satisfait de la performance de son équipe : ‘’Notre jeu tactique dans le premier et deuxième set était vraiment bon. A mon avis, c’était l’un des meilleurs matchs de notre pointu Jean PATRY. Il est jeune et c’est sa première saison à un tel niveau. Je pense aussi que le Shakthior n’était pas dans un grand jour. Nous devrons rester concentrés et sérieux au match retour.’’

Le coach du Shakthior SOLIGORSK, Viktar BEKSHA, quant à lui, ne cachait sa déception : ‘’ Mes gars ont lutté dans la réception. D’autre part, nos attaques n’étaient pas assez puissantes dans les deux premiers sets. C’est la raison pour laquelle nous avons perdu aujourd’hui. Mais je pense que nous pouvons faire mieux lors du match retour en France.’’

MONTPELLIER Volley UC started strong into the game. Due to a powerful serving game and Gustavo Delgado Escribano’s eagle eye in offence, the French outclassed the Belarusians 25-10 in the opening set. Shakhtior SOLIGORSK coach Viktar Beksha saw himself forced to make some major adjustments in the own game, but these changes were not crowned with success in the Belarusian offence. As a consequence, MONTPELLIER Volley UC claimed the second set 25-16 to make it 2-0. In the third set, however, Shakhtior SOLIGORSK finally found their rhythm.

Opposite Uladzimir Zhyhmont and Andrei Radziuk kept the Belarusian hopes of a home win alive as they led their team to hard-fought 28-26 win in the third set. But MONTPELLIER Volley UC came back stronger after the third set and youngster Jean Patry led the French side to a 25-19 win to claim the game 3-1.

MONTPELLIER Volley UC coach Olivier Lecat was satisfied with the performance of his team. « Our tactical game in the first and second set was really good. In my opinion, it was one of the best matches for our opposite Jean Patry. He is still young and it is his first season at this level. I just think it was not Shakhtior’s day. »

Shakhtior SOLIGORSK coach Viktar Beksha, on the other hand, could not hide his disappointment. « My guys struggled in reception. On the other hand, our attacking game was not very powerful in the first two sets. That is the main reason why we lost today, but I think we can do better in the return game in France. »
